It was breakfast-time in the Pumperpick household. Little Timmy and Pa Pumperpick were sitting at the table, while Ma Pumperpick idly stirred a pot of porridge on the stove.
At that point, Little Jenny came in and sat down. 'Morning everyone!' she announced breezily. 'I've decided that, from now on, I'm going to be mysterious.'
Pa Pumperpick spoke from behind his newspaper. 'Why's that?'
'I'd rather my reasons,' she replied.
Ma Pumperpick, who hadn't been paying attention, piped up with her own question. 'Is she going to art college?'
'She wouldn't,' said Pa Pumperpick, helpfully.
'She doesn't want to be a model?' continued Ma Pumperpick, peering into the porridge.
No-one answered her, so she looked from Little Timmy to Pa Pumperpick and reminded them of her question. 'I say?' she inquired.
'No-one knows. It's a mystery, so there's no use asking,' he reasoned.
'Well one of you had better, or there'll be no breakfast,' threatened Ma Pumperpick, folding her arms.
Mr Pumperpick looked over the top of his paper at Little Timmy who was engrossed in picking his nose. 'I guess I've.' He coughed. 'Little Jenny, could you explain why you don't want to be a model?'
Little Jenny sighed. 'I'd rather not say,' she replied.
Pa Pumperpick turned to Ma Pumperpick and shrugged his shoulders. 'I'm afraid I've,' he said.
'O that's it!' exclaimed Little Jenny. 'What's the point in being mysterious when no-one listens to me anyway? I've had enough. I'm just going to the whole thing.'
'Best thing for it,' advised Ma Pumperpick returning to the porridge. 'Those artists are so scrawny.'
